I Heart John Waters
Filed Under (video) by tim on 25-11-2006
Hey everybody. Yes, I’m back again, finally. Ya know, I amaze myself sometimes. However, the job I did creating this video is NOT one of those times. So be warned ahead of time, this is living documentation that people with no lives probably ought not to be video-bloggers. I’m just sayin’…
But if you’re like me, one of the twelve gay men on the planet that had never seen John Waters’ film, Pink Flamingos, then maybe you’ll enjoy my brief, but boring, review and commentary on this groundbreaking bit of cult movie goodness. I just got the thing on DVD, and I’m lovin’ it. John Waters, Divine, and Edith Massey — it ain’t no Gone With the Wind, but it’s pretty close.
If you don’t already own Pink Flamingos on DVD, do yourself (and me) a favor, and click the link on the right to order it from Amazon. You’ll be giving yourself an entertaining piece of cinematic history, and I’ll make 25 cents from Amazon. Just think, if 1400 people use this link to buy the DVD, I’ll make enough for that new camcorder I’ve been drooling on for the last three months!

I’m embarassed to say that I haven’t seen Pink Flamingos yet! I do, however, love John Waters’ other work. I watched Hairspray over and over and over again one summer in my teens. It is a good movie!
I can’t believe it’s snowing there already! It’s like you live at the North Pole. I’m a little jealous. I love snow.
I sent Josh Wolf a book and made a small donation to his legal fund a few weeks ago. I need to spread the word to both of my vlog viewers, but since you already know about it, that just leaves Xander!

Go watch Jane’s Addiction’s video to “Been Caught Stealin’” for some Waters homage…

Everybody should see Pink Flamingos, it’s so bizarre! I saw Hairspray a long time ago, it was great, too. Of the Waters’ movies I’ve seen, I think Serial Mom was my favorite, with Cry Baby running a close second. I hope to see some more of his earlier stuff soon though.
I HATE SNOW1 We have 2 seasons here — July and WINTER. I don’t mind July so much.
The whole Josh Wolf thing is SO wrong. A one-sided pissing match of major proportion, an apparent example for anyone else who might have the balls to stand up for their civil rights. It all seems so Orwellian, yet the powers that be say different. How fucked up has our system become?
About “both” your viewers, you’re linked on so many other blogs, it ain’t even funny. Maybe they’re just shy about commenting — like me…
I LOVED Serial Mom! Kathleen Turner rawks and that story is way out there. John Waters has one hell of a story telling way about him.
I loved seeing your face. I miss you. When you are at Tina’s call us and come visit. (552-6955 is my cell) I saw her at Wal-mart the other day…she always recognizes me and stops to chat.
Ok, I’m off to finish some math homowork…TG the semester is almost over.
Love the progrum as always HONAYEEEEEE! You always manage to get me wett on the bus, with your nasty fat ladies and all that. HOT TIMES! Why you gotta tease cher-rill like that? Loves it. The hobo sitting next to me was getting into it as well….. I smelled like urine and feces when I got turd werk. Oh well, twas GOOD TIMES too!
Emmm…. I like Polys-es-turds too.. prob betturd than the pink of the fla-ming-goes. But ya know… all his movies be pretturd good….. esp serial mom—LOVES me some serial mom hard n fast.
Keep up the good work! can’t wait turd see yer next progrum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.
I saw Pink Flamingos for the first time when it was re-released in select theatres for the 25th anniversay in ‘97. My friend Bridget, who was Janet in our local RHPS, and I dressed up as trailer trash and saw it together.

Good to hear from you, glad everything is all happy and full of mirth at Chateau Theide. Somehow I knew you were probably a big John Waters fan, too. And yes, I’ll be up to give the new crib an inspection very soon! BTW, nice pic in the Trib this morning!
Cheryl:
Your kind words and gentle voice are always an inspiration to me. I’m going to take your advice and purchase a copy of “Poly-es-TURDS”, too. As soon as I get paid for my last couple deposits at the sperms bank, that is.
Adam:
Unfortunately, Pink Flamingos never made the rounds in the theaters here in North Idaho. Go figure? I’m glad I finally got to see it though, even if it was only on DVD. And RHPS — I STILL pull it out every Halloween and remember the old times at the midnight movie theaters. There’ll never be another movie like it. BTW, your pie looked awesome!
