Please Poop On Me

video screencapHi. This is just a short video journal entry, very little editing involved here, so please forgive the quality. Thoughts were crossing my mind about what’s going on in my life at the moment, mainly about the kind of luck I have (or, DON’T have), that I felt the needed to document. With less than a month of school to go before I graduate, you would think I might be ecstatic about things, but such is not the case. Watch the vlog and see what I mean.

Also, the background music in this vlog entry comes from the album, “Second Sight“, by Jamie Sieber. She hails from right here in the great Pacific Northwest, and you can download her music from Magnatune.com. There’s lots of other good pod-safe music at Magnatune, too — everything from ambient to rock to jazz to trance. And by downloading or buying music from them, you’re supporting the artists directly, not helping some already wealthy record executive to get even richer. Plus, it’s free for podcasters and vloggers, which is pretty schweet.

The Big Boise Scandal of 1955

Filed Under (video) by tim on 17-04-2006

“This is a trailer for the documentary, “The Fall of ‘55.” The film explores a McCarthy-era sex scandal that rocked the community of Boise, Idaho. The events garnered national attention and left scars which remain to this day. Some regard the so-called “Boys of Boise” cases as one of America’s most notorious homosexual witchhunts. The filmmakers uncovered previously-untold stories and perspectives on the cases.”

I remember hearing about the “Boys of Boise” scandal when I was fresh out of college the first time around, back in the late seventies. Boise was (and still is) such a great town — it’s where I first started to act on those “homosexual tendencies” I’d been fighting since puberty — it seems hard to believe that such an accepting, free-thinking, fun-loving, college town like Boise, with a HUGE gay population, could have ever been at the root of such a scandal. Just goes to show that people can change, I guess.

This documentary, “the Fall of 55″, is being written, produced, and directed by a young indie film-maker in Boise, Idaho, named Seth Randall. He intended to be showing early screenings of his documentary by the end of 2005, but as I understand it from his blog, he ran into money problems for licensing fees, legal releases, all that kind of shit. I know all too well what a pisser money shortages are, but hopefully, he’ll round up the rest of the $10,000 he needs to get the film finished very soon.

After finding out about this documentary a few days ago, the subject peaked my interest, so I actually ordered the book, The Boys of Boise: Furor, Vice & Folly in an American City, from Amazon. Unfortunately, I won’t have time to read it ’til school’s out, in another month. I’m really looking forward to it though. Hopefully, I’ll have time to read it during my breaks at that new dish-washing job I’m hoping to land. wo0T?

No More Dial-up

video screencapJust a quick little vlog to reassure the world I’m still alive. Like the world cares… In this video, I show you something that recently took up residence on my roof that’s already made my life here in rural America much more pleasant. Sorry, no minor surgeries going on in this one. Please excuse the video quality in the second half of this vlog, it’s a repost of an old one that I neglected to archive the original of. The quality tends to suffer when you compress and uncompress them too many times. Again, I’m sure you care…
